JUBA - South Sudan senior national team forward Lazarus Peter Laku has signed a five-year contract with Swedish top-flight club IFK Göteborg, the club announced on its official website.
The 18-year-old winger joins the blåvitt side after emerging as one of South Sudan's brightest young football talents through Future Stars Football Academy.
His move marks another significant milestone for South Sudan football as more young players secure opportunities in European leagues.
IFK Göteborg confirmed that Lazarus has signed a contract until 2031 after spending time at the club's Kamratgården training centre in recent years, where he familiarised himself with the environment and Swedish football.
Scouting Manager David Vukovic praised the South Sudan international's attacking qualities following the completion of the transfer.
"Now everything is signed and ready. Peter Lazarus is a Blåvitt player and has signed a five-year contract. A player with a clear offensive X-factor," Vukovic said.
He added that Lazarus is capable of playing in different attacking roles, highlighting his technical ability, composure, and finishing with both feet.
"Lazarus can play on both larger and smaller surfaces and has the ability to create more time for himself through his technique. He is also a skilled finisher with both feet and has a good sense of goal. This is a long-term recruitment, and Peter will be part of our top group, where he will be able to move between different training and match environments," Vukovic added.
