Juba, South Sudan- Former South Sudan U20 national team captain Joseph Loro has safely arrived in Lebanon ahead of his official unveiling as an Al Abassieh player.

Loro landed at Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport at 3:00am, beginning his latest chapter abroad after leaving South Sudan Premier League champions El Merriekh SC Bentiu.

Speaking to Sports Hunter South Sudan upon his arrival, Loro confirmed that his unveiling will take place today.

“I have arrived safely. The unveiling will be today at 3pm,” Loro told Sports Hunter South Sudan.

The move to the Lebanese Premier League club comes after Loro’s short but highly successful spell with El Merriekh SC Bentiu, where he helped the club win three major domestic honours.

During his time with El Merriekh, Loro was part of the team that won the South Sudan Super Cup, South Sudan Cup and South Sudan Premier League.

The former ASVO Benin and Ojodu City Nigeria midfielder has built an increasingly international career since leaving his hometown club Munuki SC.

Loro helped Munuki SC make history during the 2021–22 season, when the club won the Juba Football Association First Division League title for the first time in 34 years.

He departed for Nigeria in 2023, joining Ojodu City, before moving to Benin in 2024 to play for ASVO. He returned to Juba in 2025, signing for El Merriekh SC Bentiu and adding three more trophies to his career honours.

At international level, Loro previously captained the South Sudan U20 national team, leading the Young Bright Stars to the final of the CECAFA-zone AFCON U20 qualifiers in Khartoum, Sudan.

Now, the South Sudanese midfielder is set to continue his career in Lebanon, with his official unveiling at Al Abassieh scheduled for 3pm today.
