JUBA, South Sudan – The women's volleyball friendly between Jonglei State and Lakes State was suspended on Thursday evening after darkness halted play at Simba Playground in Juba.
The match served as an important build-up fixture ahead of the South Sudan Inter-States and Administrative Areas Peace Tournament, which is set to begin on 10 August 2026.
Both teams used the friendly to fine-tune their preparations for the tournament, which will bring together teams from South Sudan's ten states and three administrative areas in a competition designed to promote peace, unity and social cohesion through sport.
Despite the interruption, the encounter provided valuable match practice for the two sides as they continue their final preparations for the national event.
The South Sudan Inter-States and Administrative Areas Peace Tournament is expected to showcase the country's volleyball talent while reinforcing the role of sport in fostering national unity and peaceful coexistence.
