Cobra Sports Club have made South Sudan volleyball history after being crowned champions of the 2026 NSSF KAVC International Championship in Kampala, Uganda.

The South Sudanese club produced a dominant campaign at the Lugogo Indoor Arena, defeating Kenyan side Equity Bank Volleyball Club 3-1 in a thrilling grand final.

The victory capped an outstanding tournament for Cobra, who finished the championship undefeated with a perfect 5-0 record.

The triumph also marks a historic milestone for South Sudanese volleyball, with Cobra Sports Club becoming the first team from South Sudan to win the prestigious NSSF KAVC International Championship.

The Kampala success is Cobra’s second major international title in Uganda this year, following their triumph at the Dr. Aporu Okol Tournament two months ago.

The club credited the achievement to the commitment of its players, coaching and technical staff, management and supporters, whose backing played a key role throughout the tournament.

“Your resilience, discipline and dedication have raised the flag of South Sudan high across the region,” said Ajak Biar Deng, General Manager and Co-founder of Cobra Sports Club.

The historic victory adds another major chapter to Cobra Sports Club’s rise on the regional volleyball scene and further underlines the growing presence of South Sudanese sport in East Africa.
