Cairo, Egypt β Nigeriaβs U18 Boys National Volleyball Team secured a 3-1 victory over hosts Egypt in a Group A clash at the 2026 African U18 Boys and Girls Volleyball Championship at Pioneers Club.
Nigeria made a strong start to the encounter, winning the opening two sets 25-20 and 25-16 to take control of the match.
Egypt responded in the third set, fighting back to claim a 25-22 victory and keep their hopes alive of completing a comeback.
However, Nigeria held their nerve in the fourth set, winning 25-21 to close out the match with a 3-1 victory and collect an important win in the group stage.
The result marked Egyptβs first defeat of the competition after the hosts began their campaign with a comfortable 3-0 win over Burundi. Nigeria also entered the match in confident form after opening their tournament with a straight-sets 3-0 victory over Morocco.
The 2026 African U18 Boys and Girls Volleyball Championship, running from 20 to 30 July, features 14 African national teams competing for continental honours.
Group A includes Egypt, Nigeria, Morocco and Burundi, with teams battling for places in the knockout stages.
