JUBA - Central Equatoria State’s women’s volleyball team made a winning start to the inaugural Inter-States Independence Peace Tournament after defeating Ruweng Administrative Area 3–1 at the Nimra Talata Volleyball Stadium in Juba on Monday evening.

Playing in front of the home crowd, Central Equatoria produced a strong performance to claim victory in their opening Group A fixture and make an early statement in the competition.

The tournament, organized by the South Sudan Volleyball Federation, brings together teams representing South Sudan’s states and administrative areas, combining competitive volleyball with a message of peace, unity and national cohesion.

Central Equatoria are competing in Group A alongside Warrap State, Ruweng Administrative Area and Pibor Administrative Area.

Group B features Eastern Equatoria, Lakes, Jonglei and Unity states.

The inaugural tournament forms part of South Sudan’s Independence celebrations and provides an opportunity for volleyball players from across the country to compete while strengthening unity through sport.
