ALEXANDRIA, Egypt – The 2026 African U18 Volleyball Championship has officially begun in Alexandria, Egypt, bringing together some of the continent’s brightest young volleyball talents in a celebration of youth, competition, and sporting excellence.
The tournament, running from 20 to 30 July 2026, is one of Africa’s leading youth volleyball competitions, providing a platform for emerging players to showcase their skills and gain valuable international experience.
National teams from across the continent are competing for continental honours while seeking to strengthen their position among Africa’s rising volleyball nations.
Hosted by Egypt over 10 days, the championship features competitions in both the men’s and women’s categories, with teams aiming not only for medals but also for the opportunity to develop players expected to represent their countries at senior continental and international competitions in the future.
African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) President Bouchra Hajij highlighted the importance of investing in youth development and the future of volleyball in Africa.
“The African U18 Championship is not just a competition; it is an investment in the future of African volleyball. Every young athlete participating here represents the hopes and ambitions of our continent. Through competitions like this, we continue to build a strong foundation for the next generation of champions, while promoting excellence, unity, respect, and friendship,” Hajij said.
Hajij also praised the Egyptian Volleyball Federation and the local organising committee for hosting the championship, reaffirming CAVB’s commitment to expanding youth development programmes across Africa.
As competition continues in Alexandria, volleyball fans across the continent will be watching closely as the next generation of African stars take centre stage, showcasing the talent, determination, and passion driving the growth of the sport.
The championship will conclude on 30 July 2026, when Africa’s new U18 champions will be crowned.
