JUBA – South Sudan Women's Cup champions Yei Joint Stars FC suffered a 4-1 defeat to Al Garagir Football Academy's mixed U-15 and U-17 side in a pre-season friendly at Buluk Playground on Friday morning.
The academy's young side took an early lead through James before Grace Aluka brought Yei Joint Stars level with the Super Queens' only goal of the match.
Al Garagir responded strongly, with Dominic restoring the academy's advantage before James completed his brace to hand coach Nasir Yussif's side a comfortable 3-1 lead at halftime.
The reigning South Sudan women's champions pressed for a way back after the restart but were unable to break down the academy's disciplined defence. Yaba then wrapped up an impressive performance for Al Garagir by scoring the fourth goal to seal a convincing 4-1 victory.
The defeat is the second for head coach Sony Harriat's side during their preparations for the 2026 CECAFA Women's Champions League Zonal Qualifiers, which will be held in Rwanda from 21 August to 6 September.
Yei Joint Stars had earlier defeated Artist FC 2-0 in a fundraising match while losing with the same margin to Everest High Soccer Academy in another warm-up fixture.
For Al Garagir Football Academy, the friendly formed part of the club's preparations for the ongoing 4th Edition of the Late Mubarak Wol Tournament, where the academy's U-17 team is competing. The victory provides a timely confidence boost for the young side as they continue their campaign in the youth competition.
