JUBA SOUTH SUDAN - Viva Stars FC's young forward Salva Lomoi has suffered a major injury after sustaining a displaced tibiofibular fracture during the quarter-finals of the 10th Edition of the Monyie-Miji Football Tournament at Buluk Playground in Juba on Thursday.
Lomoi picked up the injury while attempting to control the ball during Bira United's 2-0 defeat to Imurok CFC, forcing him off the pitch.
The injury comes as a significant blow to Viva Stars, who are expected to begin pre-season preparations for the 2026–27 campaign in the coming weeks.
The Juba Football Association First Division side is aiming to win the league title and qualify for the South Sudan National League, the final promotion stage to the South Sudan Premier League.
The annual Monyie-Miji Football Tournament is organized to promote peace, unity and social cohesion among communities from Eastern Equatoria State residing in Juba.
Following the incident, Hoding FC expressed its support for the young forward in a statement.
"Hoding Football Team, our thoughts and prayers are with Salva Lomoi of Bira United Football Team, who sustained a displaced tibiofibular fracture during the quarter-final match against Imurok CFC at Buluk Playground."
The football community has since rallied behind Lomoi, wishing him a successful recovery and a swift return to the pitch.
