JUBA - Viva Stars FC winger Olic Mario is making headlines at the 10th edition of the Monyie-Miji Football Tournament after taking his goal tally to six goals while representing Greater Oronyo.
Mario, who features for Viva Stars FC in the Juba Football Association First Division League, scored a brace in Greater Oronyo’s quarter-final victory over Ifwotu United, moving him into joint top position in the tournament’s Golden Boot race.
The talented winger now shares the top scoring spot with Oriu Marko of Ilieu Neema, whose side has been eliminated from the competition, and James Dominic of Angario, who remains in contention ahead of the semi-final meeting with Greater Oronyo.
Beyond the competition for individual honours, the 10th edition of the Monyie-Miji Football Tournament continues to serve as a platform for promoting peace, unity, and social cohesion among communities from Eastern Equatoria State living in Juba.
Through football, the tournament brings together players, supporters, and communities, using the sport as a tool to strengthen relationships and celebrate shared identity.
As the tournament enters the decisive stages, Mario will be aiming to continue his scoring form and help Greater Oronyo compete for the title while chasing the Golden Boot award.
