Tusker FC began their 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Sudanese giants Al Hilal SC in their Group C opener at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, Rwanda, on Sunday.
Al Hilal secured all three points thanks to first-half strike from Kamaradini Mamudu before Salim Adams added a second goal deep into stoppage time to seal a comfortable victory for the Sudanese giants.
The result gives Al Hilal an early advantage in Group C, while Tusker FC will be looking to bounce back in their remaining fixtures as they continue their quest for a place in the knockout stage of the regional tournament.
Despite the disappointing start, the Football Kenya Federation expressed confidence in the Kenyan champions, urging the team to remain focused for the matches ahead.
"Not the result our Kenyan representatives were aiming for, but the journey continues. Keep your heads up, Tusker FC – every match is another opportunity to grow, compete, and represent the nation with pride. We stand with you. On to the next one," the Football Kenya Federation said in a statement posted on its official social media platforms.
Tusker will now shift their focus to their next Group C encounter, knowing a positive result will be crucial to keeping their CECAFA Kagame Cup hopes alive.
