Tusker FC wrapped up their 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup campaign with a 2–0 victory over KVZ on Saturday, but the result was not enough to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive.
Ian Simiyu gave the Kenyan side the lead in the 38th minute before Victor Mbaoma doubled the advantage in the 80th minute to secure Tusker's only win of the tournament.
The victory saw Tusker finish third in Group C with three points from three matches, while KVZ ended the competition at the bottom of the standings.
Tusker joined the tournament at short notice after replacing Sudanese club Al Merrikh, who withdrew before the competition kicked off.
Although they exited in the group stage, the Kenyan outfit concluded their campaign on a positive note with a convincing win in their final fixture.
