Dar Es Salam - Tanzania made a winning start to their CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, defeating Rwanda 3-0 at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
The hosts took the lead in the 30th minute through Faraji Kayanda, giving Tanzania the advantage before the break.
Tanzania continued to press after the interval and doubled their lead in the 37th minute through Djuma Abushiri, putting the hosts firmly in control of the Group A encounter.
Evastus Lukanima then completed the scoring for Tanzania to seal a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Rwanda.
The result gives Tanzania an early boost in Group A of the CAF U20 AFCON qualifiers as they look to secure a place at the finals.
For Rwanda, the defeat leaves them with work to do in their remaining qualifying matches as they aim to keep their qualification hopes alive.
Tanzania will now look to build on the victory in their next Group A fixture, while Rwanda will seek a response in their upcoming match.
