JUBA – South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF) President Francis Amin Michael has commended football clubs, administrators, coaches and players for their dedication throughout the 2025/26 football season, despite operating under severe financial constraints.
Speaking during the opening of the three-day Football Competitions Season Annual Review Workshop at the Imperial Plaza Hotel in Juba on Friday, Amin described the review as an important opportunity to assess the previous season, identify challenges and strengthen domestic football ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
"For us, the review is important at the moment. Last season, 2025/26, there were challenges, although we are yet to get into the details. What we know is that there were challenges," Amin said.
The SSFF president reserved special praise for clubs across the country, saying they continue to sustain football despite limited resources and financial difficulties.
"First of all, I would like to appreciate the people who worked hard for the success of last season, especially the clubs. They are suffering a lot with little resources and no money, but they continue to push because of the love for football."
Amin said the same determination has been demonstrated by administrators, coaches and players, who have continued to serve the game despite numerous obstacles.
"The administrators are struggling, the coaches are struggling and the players are struggling, just because of the love for football. That's why they continue to push."
He also recognised the work of the federation's Board of Directors for developing competition regulations aimed at improving the organisation of domestic football, while acknowledging that there were shortcomings during the season.
"The board members have worked hard to come up with regulations to ensure the season goes well. Although there were mistakes, I appreciate their efforts."
Amin extended his appreciation to all SSFF staff, including competition officials, security personnel, medical teams and administrative employees, for their contribution to the successful completion of the season. The SSFF Football Competitions Season Annual Review Workshop has brought together football stakeholders from across South Sudan to evaluate the 2025/26 season, address key challenges and develop strategies to improve football governance, competitions and player development ahead of the new campaign.
