South Sudan’s U-17 national team will face hosts Rwanda and Sudan in Group A of the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations CECAFA qualifiers, following a mini-draw conducted at the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) headquarters on Friday night.

The regional competition is scheduled to kick off on October 10 at Kigali Pele Stadium in Kigali, Rwanda, with nine teams competing for three qualification slots at next year’s continental finals.

The mini-draw followed the withdrawal of Djibouti, prompting CECAFA to adjust the group composition. Somalia was moved to Group C, where it will join Tanzania and Kenya.

The changes leave South Sudan in Group A alongside Rwanda and Sudan, setting up a regional contest as the Young Bright Stars pursue qualification for the continental finals.

With three places available, South Sudan will be aiming to make the most of the opportunity and secure a place among Africa’s top U-17 teams in 2027.
