South Sudan international Amy Lasou has joined Greek club OFI Women’s Football Team, strengthening the squad ahead of its campaign in the A’ Ethniki Women’s League.
The 31-year-old, who has represented South Sudan at senior international level and served as captain of the national women’s team, arrives at OFI after spending the second half of last season with Panaitolikos in Greece’s B Ethniki.
Lasou began her career as a midfielder before transitioning into a central defensive role, where her experience and versatility have become key attributes.
The South Sudan international has already made her debut for OFI, featuring in the team’s 2-1 defeat to Kifisia.
Speaking about her move, Lasou expressed her excitement at joining the historic Greek club.
"I’m excited to be at OFI’s historic club.”
With OFI competing in the top tier of Greek women’s football, Lasou believes the team has the quality to achieve its main objective this season.
“I believe we will manage to stay in the league. We are a new team, but we have the quality to achieve our goal. Personally, I will give my best to help the team succeed.”
Lasou also acknowledged that OFI will need time to develop as a new team but stressed the importance of hard work.
“We are a new team and we will need a little time. However, we work hard, that’s what matters.”
The move gives Lasou another opportunity to continue her development in European football while bringing international experience from South Sudan to OFI’s women’s side.
