KIGALI, Rwanda – Tanzanian giants Simba SC have arrived in Kigali for the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup, marking their return to the regional club championship for the first time since 2018.
Led by captain Shomari Kapombe and vice-captain Rushine De Reuck, Simba enter the tournament aiming to reclaim the trophy they have lifted six times — a record number of titles in the history of the competition.
The “Mnyama” have been placed in a highly competitive Group B alongside defending champions Singida Black Stars, South Sudan’s Jamus SC, and Somali side Mogadishu City FC.
Simba SC will begin their campaign on 25 August against Mogadishu City FC before facing Jamus SC on 28 August and concluding their group stage matches against defending champions Singida Black Stars on 31 August.
With a rich history in the CECAFA Kagame Cup and a squad determined to add another regional crown, Simba SC return to the tournament stage with one objective — to compete for the title and restore their dominance in East and Central African club football.
