KIGALI, Rwanda – Rayon Sports FC climbed to second place in Group C of the CECAFA Kagame Cup Rwanda 2026 after securing a 2-0 victory over KVZ FC at the Amahoro Stadium on Sunday.
After a goalless first half, Kameni Herman Junior opened the scoring for Rayon Sports in the 71st minute, converting from the penalty spot to give the Rwandan giants the lead.
Muhoza Daniel sealed the victory eight minutes from time, scoring in the 82nd minute to ensure Rayon Sports collected all three points in their opening match.
The result sees Rayon Sports move into second place in Group C with three points and a +2 goal difference, level on points and goal difference with leaders Al Hilal SC, who sit top of the group.
Meanwhile, Tusker FC are third and APR FC occupy fourth place, with both sides yet to earn a point and currently holding a -2 goal difference.
Rayon Sports will now look to build on their positive start as the battle for qualification from Group C continues, while KVZ FC will aim to recover in their upcoming fixtures.
The CECAFA Kagame Cup Rwanda 2026 features some of the region’s top clubs competing for one of East and Central Africa’s most prestigious football titles.
