JUBA, South Sudan – Olympic Club head coach Atet Mongdeng has officially announced his departure after two seasons in charge, bringing an end to his tenure following unsuccessful negotiations over a contract extension.
In an emotional farewell message posted on his official social media pages, Mongdeng thanked the club's management, players, technical staff and supporters for their unwavering support throughout his time at the club.
"Every journey has a beginning, and every story has its final chapter," Mongdeng wrote. "Today, I reach the end of one of the most important stages of my coaching career after spending two seasons with Olympic Club."
The coach said he accepted the role knowing it would be a demanding challenge, but remained convinced that commitment, professionalism and hard work would help the club overcome difficult moments.
Throughout his two-year spell, Olympic Club battled numerous challenges, yet Mongdeng praised the resilience of his players, the backing of the club's leadership and the loyalty of the supporters, whom he described as a constant source of motivation during the toughest periods.
Among the achievements he highlighted was helping Olympic Club retain its place in the South Sudan Premier League for two consecutive seasons, describing the accomplishment as one of the proudest moments of his coaching career.
"With God's grace and the collective spirit of everyone involved, we managed to preserve the club's place in the Premier League for two consecutive seasons. It is an achievement I am extremely proud of and one that will remain among the finest chapters of my professional life," he said.
The former South Sudan National Team left back also expressed gratitude to everyone who worked alongside him, insisting he gave everything possible to leave a lasting positive impact at the club.
"I tried with everything I had to give this club what it deserved and to leave behind a positive legacy. I worked with sincerity and dedication and never spared any effort for the name and badge of Olympic Club."
The coach confirmed that discussions over extending his contract failed to produce an agreement, prompting his departure.
"After contract renewal negotiations did not succeed, my journey with Olympic Club has come to an end. I leave with pride and gratitude, carrying nothing but love and respect for this great institution."
Despite leaving, Mongdeng wished Olympic Club success in the upcoming campaign and expressed hope that the club would continue to grow both on and off the pitch.
"Football brings us together. Contracts may separate us, but respect and appreciation are greater than any agreement. This is not goodbye forever, but until we meet again under the banner of football."
Mongdeng departs after two seasons in which he steered Olympic Club through difficult campaigns while ensuring the club maintained its place in the top flight, closing a chapter he described as one that will always hold a special place in his heart.
