JUBA- Patrick Oleyo, popularly known by his nickname ‘Halland’, was among the players who reported for Kator FC’s opening pre-season training session at the Zahra Playground in Juba on Sunday morning as the club began preparations for the 2026/27 season.

Oleyo’s presence comes amid clarification over his contractual situation following the expiry of his initial six-month internal agreement with Kator FC on 31 May 2026. The forward joined Kator FC, popularly known as ‘Lobera’, on 16 January 2026 after leaving Jamus SC. 

Sports Hunter South Sudan obtained an official document signed by former Kator FC Secretary Robert Ohia Honorato and addressed to the Secretary General of the South Sudan Football Federation on 16 January 2026. The document confirmed the club board’s decision to release Oleyo from its club list at the end of the six-month agreement.

However, Oleyo’s situation later changed after the player informed the club that he wanted to continue with Kator.

Speaking exclusively to Sports Hunter South Sudan, Kator FC new Secretary, Bathwel Khamis confirmed that the original six-month internal agreement had expired but revealed that Oleyo has expressed interest in remaining with the club for another six months.

“Patrick Oleyo signed a one-year contract with Kator FC at the South Sudan Football Federation, but he had an internal six-month agreement with the club that expired on the 31st May,” Khamis said.

Khamis explained that Oleyo had initially wanted to leave the club, but later changed his position and expressed his desire to stay.

“But after some time he called me and told me he wanted to continue with the club, but the first six months internal agreement between Kator and Patrick expired,” he added.

The Kator secretary also confirmed that the club and the player have not yet reached a financial agreement for the proposed additional six months.

“Sincerely speaking, we haven’t yet reached a financial agreement with Patrick Oleyo pertaining to this six months, but what I can say is Patrick has shown interest to continue at the club,” Khamis said.

He added that the club expects to sit down with Oleyo to discuss what it can offer him for the proposed six-month period.

Oleyo’s appearance at Kator’s first pre-season training session provides the latest indication of his intention to remain with Lobera, although the financial terms of a further six-month arrangement are yet to be finalised.

The Al Garagir Academy graduate previously featured for Viva Stars FC before joining Jamus SC and subsequently moving to Kator FC.

For now, Patrick Oleyo ‘Halland’ remains with Kator FC’s pre-season group as both parties work towards reaching an agreement over his continued stay ahead of the new season.
