JUBA, South Sudan — Juba Queens have taken a swipe at Atlabara FC on social media following the abandonment of their South Sudan Women's Premier League Week 4 encounter at Bulluk Playground in Juba on Wednesday.

The match was called off after approximately 20 minutes, with Juba Queens leading 2-0 after Atlabara started the encounter with only eight players and had no substitutes on the bench.

According to the match account, Atlabara players began going down after Juba Queens scored their second goal, leaving the team with fewer than seven players on the pitch and unable to continue.

Hours after the incident, Juba Queens took to social media to mock their opponents, suggesting Atlabara had avoided the derby and would eventually have to face them again.

“You can run from Juba Queens today, but you can’t run every day,” the club wrote, insisting they would be waiting for another meeting between the two sides.

The post also challenged Atlabara over their failure to continue the encounter, accusing them of refusing to defend their bragging rights. Under the Laws of the Game, a match cannot continue if either team has fewer than seven players.

The circumstances surrounding the abandonment and the match officials’ report will be important in determining the competition organisers’ next steps.

The final outcome of the fixture remains subject to an official decision by the competition organisers.

Sports Hunter South Sudan will follow any further developments.
