JUBA, South Sudan — Juba Queens have announced themselves in style, opening their preparations for the inaugural South Sudan Women’s Premier League with a 6–0 victory over Jamus Academy.
In what was the club’s first-ever match since its establishment earlier this year, Juba Queens produced an impressive attacking display, with Lydia Miaka emerging as the star of the afternoon.
Miaka scored four goals and contributed an assist, while Christine Ayen and Shamira Fibi were also on target to complete a convincing victory.
The Juba-based club began their training on 1 September as they prepare for the historic first edition of the South Sudan Women’s Premier League.
The friendly victory gives Juba Queens an encouraging boost ahead of their competitive debut, but a much tougher challenge awaits.
They will face Yei Joint Stars on Saturday, 19 September, in their opening league fixture at the Juba National Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 3:30pm.
For Juba Queens, the fixture will mark the beginning of a new chapter as they take their place in South Sudan’s inaugural top-flight women’s competition.
One week after their first-ever match, Juba Queens will play their first-ever league game.
