KIGALI, Rwanda – One time South Sudan Premier League champions Jamus SC strengthened their chances of reaching the knockout stages of the CECAFA Kagame Cup Rwanda 2026 after holding six-time champions Simba SC to a goalless draw in Group B.
The Buffaloes produced a disciplined performance against the Tanzanian giants at Pele Stadium in Kigali, securing a crucial point to maintain their position at the top of the group.
Jamus SC created moments of danger throughout the match, with Rwanda international midfielder Kevin Muhire playing a key role in driving the team forward and creating pressure against Simba's defence.
Simba SC, however, remained organised and denied the South Sudan champions a breakthrough.
The best chance of the game came in the 70th minute when Jamus goalkeeper Majak Maling produced an excellent save to stop a powerful effort from Libasse Gueye, keeping the score level.
The result leaves Jamus SC top of Group B with four points and a +2 goal difference.
Defending champions Singida Black Stars sit second with three points and a +1 goal difference, while Simba SC are third with two points and a +0 goal difference. Mogadishu City Club remain bottom with no points and a -3 goal difference.
Jamus SC, who have already defeated defending champions Singida Black Stars in the tournament, will now look to secure qualification to the knockout stages as the group reaches its decisive phase.
