Kigali - Garde Républicaine FC have been eliminated from the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup after suffering a 3-1 defeat to APR FC at the Kigali Pele Stadium on Monday.
The defeat marked the second consecutive loss for the Djiboutian side, who began their campaign with a heavy 5-0 defeat against Gor Mahia in their opening Group A fixture.
Garde Républicaine currently sit bottom of Group A with zero points and a -7 goal difference after conceding eight goals and scoring just one in two matches.
The Djiboutian club still have one final group match to play against Group A leaders Vipers SC, but their mathematical chances of reaching the semi-finals have already disappeared.
According to the tournament format, the three group winners will automatically qualify for the semi-finals, while the best second-placed team across the three groups will complete the last-four lineup.
With their points tally and goal difference leaving them unable to compete for qualification, Garde Républicaine's remaining match against Vipers will only serve as a chance to end their campaign on a positive note.
