Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has unveiled its Women's Football Strategy, outlining a new roadmap aimed at strengthening the development, governance and administration of women's football across Kenya.

The strategy was launched on Tuesday, with FKF Acting Secretary General Dennis Gicheru describing it as a bold blueprint for the future of the women's game in the country.

In a Facebook post, Gicheru said he attended the launch alongside FKF President Hussein Mohammed, Cabinet Secretary for Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage Hanna Cheptumo, and a FIFA delegation led by Abigail Lemma, Development Manager for North and East Africa.

The unveiling followed four days of intensive capacity-building sessions involving 48 FKF Branch Women Representatives, focusing on strategic planning, governance, financial mobilisation and effective management.

The training was designed to strengthen leadership capacity at the grassroots and equip women representatives with the skills needed to contribute more effectively to the growth and administration of women's football.

Gicheru highlighted the role of Neddy Atieno, who leads the FKF Women's Desk, in overseeing the initiative and pledged the federation's full support towards ensuring the strategy is successfully implemented.

He stressed that the focus would now shift from planning to execution, with the ultimate goal of translating the strategy into tangible opportunities for women and girls across Kenya.

The initiative represents another step in FKF's efforts to strengthen the women's game through improved institutional structures, grassroots leadership and sustainable football development.
