Juba - The Ethiopia national football team has arrived in Juba, South Sudan, ahead of its opening Group J match in the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027 qualifiers.

The Ethiopian delegation arrived in Juba as African nations begin their campaigns for a place at the 2027 AFCON finals, which will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda from 19 June to 17 July 2027.

Ethiopia is set to face Sudan in its opening Group J fixture as the qualifying group stage gets underway on Thursday, 24 September.

The opening stage of the qualifiers will see 48 African nations compete across 12 groups, with Matchday 1 and Matchday 2 scheduled between 24 September and 6 October.

The 2027 AFCON finals will return to East Africa for the first time since Ethiopia hosted the competition in 1976.

Sports Hunter South Sudan will continue to provide updates on the teams' preparations and developments ahead of the Group J encounter.
