KAMPALA UGANDA - Reigning South Sudan Premier League and South Sudan Cup champions El Merriekh SC have announced the cancellation of their first pre-season friendly match against Lukuli Hearts Football Club, which was scheduled for today.
The Pride of Bentiu were expected to take on the Ugandan side at Nsambya YES Center, with kick-off set for 9:00am, as part of their preparations ahead of the 2026–27 domestic season and the CAF Champions League preliminary stages.
The club, however, did not reveal the reason behind the cancellation but apologized to fans and supporters for any inconvenience caused.
"We regret to inform you that our friendly match has been cancelled. We sincerely apologize to all our fans and supporters for any inconvenience or disappointment this may cause. We appreciate your understanding and continued support. Updated information regarding the match will be communicated soon."
The fixture was set to be one of the first tests for El Merriekh under new head coach Jean Claude Loboko, who is tasked with guiding the club as they defend their domestic titles and prepare for their return to continental football.
