Juba, South Sudan- A supporter of El Merriekh SC Bentiu has publicly questioned the appointment of the club's new Sporting Director, Henry, citing his previous comments about the South Sudan champions and calling on him to prove his commitment through his work.
In an open message addressed to Henry and the club's management, the supporter, Yien Show reminded the new official of remarks he allegedly made before joining the club.
"Today you wear the El Merriekh Bentiu badge as Sporting Director. Not long ago, in another place, you clearly said that no matter what El Merriekh did, the club would never win the trophy. We followed those statements, we remembered them, and we documented every comment and every position that went against the stability of this club." He said.
Yien said fans have not forgotten those statements despite Henry now becoming part of the club's leadership.
"Our position as supporters is clear. We have not erased the past, and we have kept every statement that was made. The only standard now is your work. This is your opportunity to prove that you came to serve the badge and nothing else." He added.
The message also questioned whether the appointment has the backing of the club's supporters.
"Acceptance from the fans is missing. We, the supporters of El Merriekh Bentiu, do not accept this appointment as someone who represents us. One person may accept it, but the football community has a different opinion."
Despite the criticism, the supporter said Henry still has an opportunity to win over the fans through his performance.
"We will watch, and we will judge only by the results. In the end, El Merriekh is bigger than any individual, and the club will remain despite everything."
