JUBA - El Merriekh FC Juba captain and midfielder Manas Gilbert has officially announced his departure from the club, bringing an end to a remarkable eight-year journey that saw him become one of the Red Devils' most respected leaders.

Gilbert joined El Merriekh FC Juba in 2018 from Juba City and went on to establish himself as a key figure in the midfield before being entrusted with the captain's armband. 

During his time at the club, he helped El Merriekh win two South Sudan Cup titles and played an instrumental role in the team's domestic success.

In an emotional farewell message addressed to the club's management, players, staff and supporters, Gilbert reflected on the unforgettable memories he created during his time at the club.

"These eight years have been filled with unforgettable moments, achievements, challenges, and celebrations. Every trophy we lifted represented the hard work, dedication, and unity of everyone associated with this great club. I am proud to have played my part, however small, in contributing to our success."

The veteran midfielder expressed his sincere appreciation to former Team President Tong Michael for his trust, support and leadership throughout his stay at El Merriekh.

"Your vision and encouragement made it possible for many of us to serve with pride and commitment."

Gilbert also thanked Sabir Adam Ali and former Secretary General Kamal Yugu for their guidance, professionalism and continuous support, describing their dedication as a source of inspiration throughout his career at the club.

He further paid tribute to his teammates, coaches, technical staff, administrative team and supporters, thanking them for their friendship, respect and unwavering cooperation over the years.

Concluding his farewell, Gilbert reaffirmed his lifelong affection for El Merriekh FC Juba and wished the club continued success in the years ahead.

"Although my journey with the club comes to an end, the love, pride, and respect I have for this great institution will remain with me forever. I wish the club continued success, many more trophies, and greater achievements in the years ahead."

Gilbert leaves El Merriekh FC Juba as one of the club's longest-serving captains, remembered for his leadership, consistency and commitment, having helped the Red Devils secure two South Sudan Cup crowns during an outstanding eight-year spell.
