Argentina made a powerful statement at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games after recording an emphatic 9-2 victory over Senegal in their Group A men's futsal encounter on Monday.

Playing at the packed Complexe Iba Mar Diop, Argentina were unfazed by the overwhelming support behind the hosts, taking control early and maintaining their dominance throughout the contest.

The victory came despite an electric atmosphere created by Senegalese supporters, who passionately backed their national team on home soil.

Teammate Valentino Martinez also expressed satisfaction with the result, highlighting the team's determination to achieve its objective of winning matches at the tournament.

Despite the heavy defeat, Senegal took pride in representing their country in front of their home supporters. Head coach Balla Moussa Balde praised the fans for their remarkable backing, while captain Adama Ndao described representing Senegal as a tremendous honour.
