The Confederation of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) has appointed CAF's 2025 Men's Referee of the Year, Omar Abdulkadir Artan, to officiate the final of the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup at Amahoro Stadium on 7 August.
Artan will be assisted by Liban Abdulrazack of Djibouti and Eliezer Stephen Yiembe of Kenya, forming one of the region's most experienced officiating teams for the tournament's showpiece.
The appointment caps another remarkable period for the three officials, who have also been selected to take charge of the UEFA Super Cup in Salzburg on 12 August, further cementing their growing reputation on the international stage.
Artan's selection for the Kagame Cup final is a reflection of his consistent performances in continental competitions and his status as one of Africa's elite referees.
The final will conclude the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup, with the officiating team expected to bring its wealth of experience to one of East and Central Africa's biggest football fixtures.
