Juba, South Sudan - Former Al Rabita Queens head coach AlBalumi Abdallah, popularly known as Awi, has denied reports linking him with the vacant Juba Queens FC head coach position.
Reports from other media outlets had suggested that Awi was being considered as a possible replacement for Rina Thomas, who reached mutual agreement to part ways with the newly established Juba Queens.
However, speaking to Sports Hunter South Sudan, Awi dismissed the reports, saying he is currently happy with his role as assistant coach of South Sudan Premier League side Malakia SC and has no interest in leaving the club at the moment.
The development leaves Juba Queens still without a confirmed head coach following Thomas’ departure.
The Nile Divas have since appointed Loro Emmanuel as their new fitness coach, as the club continues preparations after their first-ever official match ended in a 4-1 defeat to Yei Joint Stars FC.
For now, the identity of Juba Queens’ next head coach remains unclear, with the club yet to announce a replacement for Thomas.
