JUBA, South Sudan - Atlabara FC and Salam FC Aweil played out a 0–0 draw at Buluk Playground in Week 2 of the South Sudan Premier League, with both sides coming close to breaking the deadlock but ultimately having to settle for a point.

Salam enjoyed the greater attacking output, finishing the match with 10 shots to Atlabara's five, but Atlabara produced one of the game's biggest moments when Christopher Nyang saw his one-on-one effort crash against the crossbar.

The hosts made their intentions clear almost immediately. Just eight seconds into the match, Anthony Billy fired from inside the box, with his effort taking a deflection off a Salam defender and going out for a corner.

Salam responded with their first shot on target from a free-kick, setting the tone for an open contest.

The visitors gradually found their rhythm, with Cyer Bol providing a persistent threat. Atlabara remained dangerous on the break, but neither side could convert their openings.

Salam came closest before the interval when they created a golden opportunity inside the box in the 43rd minute, only for Matur Meer effort to miss the target.

Atlabara immediately threatened at the other end. Christopher Nyang unleashed a powerful effort that was saved by Salam goalkeeper Deng Angok, ensuring the teams went into half-time level.

The second half saw Salam increase the pressure.

Elon Juma had two opportunities in quick succession. His first attempt from the edge of the box went over, while his second chance inside the six-yard area was disrupted by the Atlabara defence before goalkeeper Nasona Victor could be troubled.

Then came the defining moment.

Nyang broke through and found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but his effort struck the crossbar. It was Atlabara's clearest opportunity to take all three points.

Salam continued to search for the winner. Adim Madut was presented with a chance in the 72nd minute after excellent work from Cyer Bol, but he fired over.

Akol Kony almost broke the deadlock following a flowing team move involving Matur Meer and Cyer Bol, but his effort went wide.

The final whistle brought an entertaining contest to an end without a goal.

Two draws for Atlabara

The result gives Atlabara FC their second consecutive draw under first assistant coach Faustin Mfuma. They opened their campaign with a 1–1 draw against Al Ghazala SC.

For Salam head coach Aguer Mayiek, it is his first draw after beginning his campaign with an impressive 4–0 victory over Olympic FC in Week 1.

Salam move temporarily into second place with four points, while Atlabara sit temporarily eighth in the standings.

Both teams now look ahead to Week 3. Atlabara FC will face Koryom FC, while Salam FC take on newcomers Super Stars FC.
