APR FC ended their 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup campaign with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Uganda's Vipers SC at Amahoro Stadium on Saturday, but the result was not enough to keep either side in the competition.
Mamadou Traoré gave the Rwandan champions the lead in the 20th minute before Vipers responded through Mulongo Gusto, who equalized in the 39th minute to leave the sides level at halftime.
Djibril Ouattara restored APR's advantage in the 60th minute, scoring what proved to be the winning goal as the hosts finished their campaign on a high.
Despite the victory, APR finished third in Group A with six points from three matches. Vipers also ended the group stage on six points but were likewise eliminated, with both teams missing out on qualification as goal difference favored Group A winners Gor Mahia.
Garde Républicaine finished bottom of the group without a point after losing all three of their matches.
