Juba South Sudan - Al Huriya FC secured a convincing 4-0 victory over 10-man Zal Zal FC in Week 2 of the Juba Football Association First Division League, popularly known as the Konyokonyo League, at Bulluk Playground in Juba on Tuesday.
The Flames took control early, scoring three goals in the first half before adding a fourth after the break to collect all three points and maintain their position at the top of the standings with six points.
Philip Soka opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a long-range cross that sailed into the net after Zal Zal goalkeeper Mboriyie Theodore appeared to misjudge its flight, believing the ball would go over the crossbar.
Al Huriya doubled their advantage seven minutes later when rightback Robert Wani surged forward from outside the penalty area before unleashing a powerful strike into the back of the net.
Centre-back James Soka made it 3-0 in the 30th minute, finishing from close range after connecting with Robert Wani’s header from a corner.
The Flames carried their three-goal advantage into half-time, putting themselves in a strong position to secure victory.
Zal Zal’s task became more difficult in the 56th minute when defender Sagaani Peter received a second yellow card, followed by a red, for a challenge on an Al Huriya forward.
Despite being a man down, Zal Zal created an opportunity to reduce the deficit in the 75th minute. However, Simon Kenyi, popularly known as Kubi, directed his effort straight from a penalty at the goalkeeper, who made the save.
Al Huriya were awarded a penalty in the 79th minute, giving them an opportunity to extend their lead. Ambo stepped up to take the spot-kick, but Mboriyie Theodore saved his effort from 12 yards.
Substitute Emmanuel Mburiji finally added the fourth goal in the 85th minute, sealing a comprehensive win for the Flames.
