JUBA, South Sudan — Medical-team bibs were found freshly washed, still wet and hanging on the stairs at Juba National Stadium approximately 40 minutes before kick-off of South Sudan U23’s AFCON qualifier against Djibouti.
The discovery came as final preparations were underway at the stadium ahead of the international fixture.
The bibs are used to identify members of the medical team during matches, making their availability part of the matchday preparations.
Sports Hunter observed the bibs hanging at the stadium but has chosen not to identify the medical personnel involved. The focus of the report is on the timing and preparation of the equipment rather than the individuals.
It remains unclear why the bibs were washed so close to kick-off and whether this was part of routine preparation or resulted from a last-minute equipment issue.
Sports Hunter is seeking clarification from the relevant organisers on the circumstances surrounding the late preparation of the medical equipment.
There is no indication from the observation alone that the incident affected the medical team’s ability to perform its duties during the match.
