JUBA, SOUTH SUDAN — Sudan national team striker Saifeldin Malik Bakhit has sustained fractures to the left-hand ring and middle fingers during Sudan’s 1–0 AFCON 2027 qualifying victory over Ethiopia at Juba National Stadium on Friday evening.
The forward was introduced in the 87th minute, replacing Mohammed Eisa, as Sudan held on to secure victory in their opening Group J qualifier.
According to a reliable source within the Sudan national team, Malik Bakhit travelled with the squad to Mozambique, where Sudan will continue their AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign.
The source told Sports Hunter South Sudan that the striker is expected to travel from Mozambique to Tanzania to complete banking-related processes before continuing to Egypt for medical treatment and surgery.
The injury adds to Sudan’s concerns following the earlier injury sustained by captain Bakhit Khamis Nemira, who was forced off in the 61st minute of the same match.
Sudan will next face Mozambique in their Group J qualifying campaign.
This report is based on information from a source within the Sudan national team. The medical details and treatment plans have not yet been independently confirmed by the Sudan Football Association or the player’s medical team.
