The South Sudan U20 national team delegation is returning to Juba in phases following their participation in the U20 AFCON CECAFA Qualifiers in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
According to team manager Sam Surur Dantes, the delegation is travelling in different groups due to limited space on available flights.
“Eleven members of the delegation arrived in Juba yesterday. Seven will arrive this morning, while 14 members left [Dar es Salaam], with nine scheduled to leave tonight and five tomorrow,” Dantes said.
South Sudan’s campaign ended at the group stage under head coach John Alier.
The Young Bright Stars opened their campaign with a 4-0 defeat to Burundi before securing a 1-1 draw against Kenya.
The phased return of the delegation now marks the conclusion of South Sudan’s participation in the regional U20 AFCON qualifying campaign, with the team set to return home after their matches in Tanzania.
