South Sudan’s U20 national team have departed Juba for Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to compete in the 2026 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Bright Stars will open their campaign against Burundi on September 15, before completing their group-stage schedule against Kenya.
Head coach John Alier’s team travel to Tanzania in strong form after winning all three of their final preparation matches.
South Sudan began their friendly programme with a 3–1 victory over Juba Football Association First Division side Al Huriya, before defeating South Sudan Premier League side Holy Family FC 2–0.
They completed their preparations with a commanding 5–1 win over another Juba Football Association First Division League side.
The three victories provide the Junior Bright Stars with positive momentum as they turn their attention to competitive action in Tanzania.
Coach John Alier and his squad will now look to translate that form into the regional qualifiers, with a place at the CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations at stake
