JUBA, South Sudan — South Sudan have dropped to 170th place in the October 2026 FIFA Coca-Cola Men’s World Ranking, with their points total falling to 959.91.

The Bright Stars were ranked 169th on 11 June with 971 points, before losing ground following their September international fixtures.

South Sudan suffered a 2–1 defeat to Malawi on 25 September 2026, losing 8.97 points from their pre-match total of 961.97.

Four days later, on 29 September, the Bright Stars endured a 5–0 defeat to Egypt, dropping a further 2.06 points to finish on 959.91.

Both defeats came in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign under new head coach N’Sengi-Biembe, leaving South Sudan with consecutive setbacks as they seek to improve their standing in African and international football.

The latest ranking places South Sudan 170th globally, one position below their June standing.

The Bright Stars will aim to respond with improved results in their upcoming international fixtures and recover lost ground in the FIFA Coca-Cola Men’s World Ranking.
