DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania – Simba Sports Club's Advisory Council has commended the club's leadership for its management of the team while outlining recommendations aimed at achieving greater success during the 2026/27 season.
The Council, which met on Saturday, praised the club's executive leadership for its stewardship and also recognized the work of the management team, including Head of Information and Communications Ahmed Ally, for protecting and advancing the club's interests.
It also applauded the players, led by captain Shomari Kapombe, head coach Steve Barker and his technical staff, as well as Simba's members and supporters for their commitment throughout the 2025/26 campaign.While the Council did not disclose the specific recommendations discussed, it emphasized the importance of building on last season's achievements as the club prepares for a busy campaign.
Simba's immediate focus will be the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup, where they will make their first appearance since 2018. The Tanzanian giants are the competition's most successful side with six titles and will be aiming to reclaim the regional crown.
Drawn in Group B, Simba will face defending champions Singida Black Stars, South Sudan's Jamus SC, and Somalia's Mogadishu City Club. Steve Barker's side will open their campaign against Mogadishu City Club before taking on Jamus SC and Singida Black Stars in what promises to be a highly competitive group.
