The Senegalese Football Federation has announced the start of the process to dismiss national team head coach Pape Thiaw and his entire technical staff following Senegal's elimination in the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The decision was reached during an Executive Committee meeting held on Saturday, 11 July 2026, after what the Federation described as a comprehensive assessment of the team's performances and future prospects.
The FSF said the move was taken in the best interests of Senegalese football and has authorized Federation President Abdoulaye Fall to oversee the dismissal process in accordance with the federation's statutes, regulations and contractual obligations.
In addition to the coaching changes, the Executive Committee has mandated the Federation President to implement a comprehensive reorganization of all Senegal national teams.
The Federation also confirmed that Abdoulaye Fall will hold a press conference on Monday, 13 July 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Léopold Sédar Senghor Stadium in Dakar to explain the reasons behind the decision, review the national team's current situation and outline the Federation's future plans.
In its statement, the FSF reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, good governance and acting in the best interests of Senegalese football.
