JUBA, South Sudan — Kator FC forward Patrick Oleyo, widely known as “Holland,” is expected to spearhead the South Sudan attack when the Bright Stars face Malawi in their opening AFCON 2027 qualifier.

The tall, strong and quick forward offers South Sudan a physical presence in the final third, with his pace and ability to compete for aerial balls providing another dimension to the Bright Stars’ attacking approach.

Oleyo heads into the encounter without a goal in his last four appearances for his club, but remains among the forwards expected to play a prominent role as South Sudan begin their campaign on the road to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Kator FC striker will be looking to convert his physical attributes into an attacking impact against Malawi and end his current scoring drought on the international stage.

South Sudan departed Juba for Malawi today ahead of the fixture, with the Bright Stars now preparing for their first assignment in the AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign.

For Oleyo, the match offers an opportunity to make his presence felt at the start of South Sudan’s journey towards the finals in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

The Bright Stars will hope “Holland” can provide the attacking spark as they begin their road to AFCON 2027.
