BAMAKO, Mali – The Malian Football Federation (FEMAFOOT) has launched a CAF ‘A’ Licence coaching course as part of efforts to strengthen the quality of football coaching in the country.
The six-month training programme, running from 13 July 2026 to 9 January 2027, officially began on Monday at the conference hall of Stade Ouezzin Coulibaly in Bamako.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Fanyeri Diarra, President of FEMAFOOT’s Technical and Development Committee, with the presence of CAF Elite Instructor Mohamed Magassouba, National Technical Director Ousmane Guindo, who is also a CAF instructor, and Football Coaches Association President Issa Kolon Coulibaly.
A total of 23 coaches, including two women, are taking part in the programme, which combines theoretical and practical sessions covering key areas of modern football coaching.
The course focuses on football administration, physical development, teamwork among technical staff, possession-based football, nutrition, match and data analysis, tactical periodisation, as well as the difference between leadership and management.
Over 200 hours of training, participants will develop their technical, tactical and psychological knowledge in preparation for higher-level coaching roles.
Speaking during the launch, FEMAFOOT Executive Committee member Fanyeri Diarra praised CAF Elite Instructor Mohamed Magassouba for his commitment to developing Malian coaches and encouraged participants to remain focused throughout the programme.
The CAF ‘A’ Licence is one of the highest coaching qualifications in African football and is designed to equip coaches with advanced skills required to manage elite-level teams.
