The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has signed a new sponsorship agreement worth Le 4,127,994 with Leone Rock Metal Group for the 2026/27 Sierra Leone Premier League season.

The agreement extends Leone Rock’s involvement in Sierra Leone’s top-flight football, with the company entering its fourth consecutive season as a league sponsor. The signing ceremony was attended by key government and football stakeholders, with the SLFA represented by First Vice President Alie Badara Tarawallie.

Also present were Minister of Sports Augusta James-Teima, Minister of Youth Affairs Ibrahim Sannoh, National Sports Authority Executive Director Mohamed Alphaka Conteh Esq, and Leone Premier League Board Chairman Osman Tommy.

The latest deal is particularly significant because the sponsorship package has increased in value in each of the four seasons, highlighting the growing commercial relationship between Leone Rock and the SLFA.

The partnership will support the organisation and delivery of the 2026/27 Premier League season, while contributing to efforts to improve the sustainability, professionalism and overall development of Sierra Leone's domestic game.

For a league seeking to strengthen its commercial foundations, the continued increase in sponsorship value offers an example of how stronger relationships between football authorities and the private sector can provide additional resources for domestic competitions.

The SLFA has welcomed Leone Rock’s continued commitment to Sierra Leonean football, with both parties now turning their attention to another season of partnership.

WHY IT MATTERS

The deal also provides a useful reference point for football development across the region, including South Sudan, where domestic competitions continue to seek stronger commercial partnerships.

For leagues in emerging football markets, securing consistent private-sector investment can be crucial to improving competition organisation, professionalism, visibility and long-term sustainability.
