South African giants Kaizer Chiefs suffered a 2-1 defeat to Spanish side Elche CF in their third pre-season friendly as they continued preparations for the 2026/27 campaign.
Elche opened the scoring in the 24th minute through A. Houary, before Konary doubled the hosts' advantage deep into first-half stoppage time (45+3') to hand the Spanish side a comfortable lead at the interval.
Kaizer Chiefs improved after the break and reduced the deficit in the 59th minute when Velebayi found the back of the net, but Amakhosi could not force an equaliser as Elche held on for the victory.
The friendly forms part of Kaizer Chiefs' pre-season programme in Europe as the South African side continues to build fitness and tactical sharpness ahead of the new campaign.
