Juba, South Sudan — Hiyala FC staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Imatary 3-1 in the Round of 16 of the Monyie-Miji Football Tournament, booking their place in the quarterfinals.
Imatary made a fast start and took the lead in the second quarter of the match through E. Mungu, putting pressure on Hiyala FC early on.
However, Emmanuel Oyo restored parity for Hiyala just two minutes before the end of the first half, giving the King Palace renewed momentum heading into the break.
Oyo completed his brace six minutes after the restart to put Hiyala FC ahead, before experienced and versatile midfielder Daniel Angelo sealed the victory with the third goal in the 67th minute.
The result sees Hiyala FC join the growing list of teams that have secured their place in the Monyie-Miji Tournament quarterfinals, as the competition enters its decisive stages.
