FIFA has imposed a 20% restriction on South Sudan Football Federation’s (SSFF) development funding allocation after the federation failed to comply with a decision issued by the FIFA Football Tribunal, according to a report citing an official FIFA legal notice.
The communication, reportedly issued through FIFA’s legal portal on 21 July 2026 under reference number FDD-28675, informed SSFF that a restriction would be applied to its FIFA development funds scheduled for January 2027.
The measure is linked to a case involving former South Sudan women’s national team coach Sidi Mohamed Karouane, identified as case number FPSD-23185, in which FIFA’s Football Tribunal issued a binding decision that was not implemented within the required period.
FIFA’s decision is based on Article 8, paragraph 2(b) of Annex 2 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, which allows restrictions on development funding for national associations that fail to comply with binding decisions from FIFA judicial bodies.
If the federation’s total development allocation is $650,000, the 20% restriction would amount to approximately $130,000, leaving access to around $520,000.
FIFA has also reportedly warned that further restrictions could be applied to future development payments if SSFF continues to remain non-compliant with the ruling.
