JUBA — Heegan SC head coach Cabas Mohamed Hassan has returned to the club after completing his national-team assignment with the Somalia U-15 side in Kigali, Rwanda.
Cabas was away on national duty as Somalia U-15 competed in the CAF African Schools Football Championship CECAFA qualifiers, forcing him to miss Heegan’s CAF Champions League preliminary-round first-leg clash against El Merriekh SC Bentiu.
In his absence, Heegan suffered a narrow 1–0 defeat to the South Sudan champions at the Juba National Stadium, leaving the Somali side with a deficit to overturn in the return leg.
Cabas was welcomed back into training on Tuesday as Heegan stepped up preparations for Saturday’s decisive second leg.
The coach’s return comes at a crucial moment for Heegan, who now face the task of producing a response away from home and keeping their CAF Champions League campaign alive.
With one goal separating the sides after the first meeting, Heegan will need a stronger attacking display in the return leg while keeping El Merriekh at bay.
The second leg is scheduled for Saturday, 12 September 2026.
