Dar Es Salam - Burundi made a winning start to their CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, defeating South Sudan in their Group C opener at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Amini Nshimirimana opened the scoring for Burundi in the 41st minute before doubling the lead in first-half stoppage time at 45+2.
Burundi continued to control the contest after the break, with Sympathique Majidi adding two more goals in the space of three minutes, scoring in the 75th and 77th minutes.
The four-goal victory gives Burundi an important early advantage in Group C, which also features South Sudan and Kenya.
South Sudan will now look to bounce back in their next fixture as the Bright Stars continue their campaign in the CAF U20 AFCON qualifiers.
